Cool off from the summer heat with our refreshing Mantanzas River-Bourbon Splash. The vibrant, sharp taste of lemon gives our smooth Matanzas River Red Ale the perfect kick.
This citrus cocktail will quench your thirst and your sweet tooth.
1/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups bourbon
1/4 cup lemon juice
10 dashes bitters
Two 12-ounce bottles Matanzas River Red Ale, chilled
One 12-ounce can of lemon seltzer, chilled, for topping off
Lemon wedges, for garnish
Combine the sugar and 1/4 cup of water in a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Chill the simple syrup until cold. Meanwhile, chill 6 rocks glasses in the freezer.
In a large pitcher, stir together the bourbon, lemon juice, bitters, and the chilled simple syrup. Add the beer and stir.
To serve, pour the cocktail into the chilled glasses over ice. Top off with a splash of seltzer, and garnish with lemon wedges.
